VALPERGA (near Turin). Casino. Progetto di un casino che il Signor Conte Bagnasco di Carpenato intende errigere sulla vetta di un suo podere vignato suI territorio, e presso l abitato di Valperga. Design for a casino or small garden house, showing two floor plans, a cross-section of the whole and a shaded watercolour of the completed project. Each drawing is labelled in Italian, and full directions are written neatly at top nght: Partially coloured architectural drawing, overall size 465 x 625mm. Piedmont c.1800. Neatly mounted on mulberry paper. The attractive casino of classical proportions is to have four symmetrical sides built of brick, a ground and first floor each with eight rooms around an octagonal stairwell leading to the belvedere. Three windows at each level open onto the surrounding landscape. Casinos in Italy were built from the early 16th century principally as ornamental pavilions. The Valperga casino was also intended for guests visiting the farm. Light traces of marginal waterstaining.
