Casket - Brass, Leather, Wood - First half 17th century
A fantastic Louis XIII casket in stamped and engraved leather, so-called "cuir bouilli" on a wooden chore. The casket has retained its original brass handle, hook closures and open-work escutcheon and lock-plate. The lid and side are decorated with geometric patterns and a row stylized , stamped flowers to the front. France. Circa 1620/40. Dimensions: H 10. 5cm ; L 18. 5cm ; W 14cm Sold as found in original condition with small blemishes as could be expected of a piece which is over 380 years old. Without key, but can be easily closed by using the hooks.
