Centerpiece, Vase (1) - .800 silver - Castaudi & Gautero - Italy - First half 20th century

Stunning large sized vase in cast, shaped and chiselled silver. Masterly made in Italy in the 20th century. By Castaudi & Gautero, 1935-1971. Oval shaped body resting on a round base, richly decorated with scrolls and flowers; with a pod shaped pattern and a hand hammered stem. The side handles have been embellished with a pair of burin crafted ram heads whose horns rest on the vase rim. Scrolls, leaves and full flowers decorate the four side of the vase. Hallmarks (on the base) : silver fineness hallmark 800/000, diamond shape, fasces (1934-1944) - Dimensions: height 28 x 21 cm, top diameter 19 cm, base diameter 14 cm. Weight: 1160 grams.
