[ translate ]

Bobo Fing people, Burkina Faso: An impressively scaled helmet mask in the form of a Chameleon. Carved wood decorated with black and brown pigmented stain delineating its incised, white kaolin-defined geometric decoration. The lower rim of the hollowed head is incised with holes for the attachment of costume elements. Early/Mid 20th century.
