A Charles II brass mounted black and gilt japanned chinoiserie decorated cabinet on stand, late 17th century, the cabinet doors enclosing a configuration of eleven drawers decorated with traditional landscapes and figures in various pursuits, raised on a profusely carved and pierced giltwood stand.

Condition Report: The cabinet is structurally sound. With cracking and lifting to Surface decoration throughout. Shrinkage cracks to case panels and doors. Areas of refreshing and overpainted restoration. Fading and rubbing to decoration. The decoration to the interior good overall with typical rubbing. Losses to front of doors. The stand with heavy wear, rubbing, darkening, gilding revealing red bole to high points. The stand with scattered breaks, losses and repairs throughout, rebuilding and reinforcements to the underside. The stand's front right leg has movement to the joints.The stand and cabinet possibly together by association. Brass pulls to drawer fronts are replaced with current hardware hiding avant holes to drawer fronts. No key.
