u. 2t/hs, soiled and slightly scuffed labels, slightly worn and scuffed capsules
An average quantity vintage of 31 hl/hectare and quite a high natural alcohol degree of 12.6 for the time! The then owner, Jacques Fourcaud-Laussac, considered chaptalisation to be out of the question. The absolute original Cairo spice bazaar nose. Inky, 'iodé', miraculous wine. So creamy in texture. Riveting. In 2007, it wiped the floor against the 1955 and 1953 which only goes to show that, at this stage, every bottle is different and a multitude of shifting organisms in wine of this age contribute to the extreme individuality of each tasting.
