Cherrier & Besnus - Muller Frères - pair of Art Deco wall lights
CHERRIER & BESNUS and MULLER FRERES A beautiful pair of French art deco wall sconces in gilded bronze or solid brass made around 1926-1933. The nice mounts hold Muller frères shades in double layered blown glass with pigment inclusions. Both shades are signed Muller fres Luneville. At the back of the wall plates we can see the foundry mark RM. The sconces were made by the Paris France based company in bronze lighting fixtures Cherrier et Besnus. In 1926 monsieur E. Cherrier and monsieur Besnus took over the company of René Massin at 36 rue Amelot. Massin produced bronze lighting in a neo-classical and art nouveau style. Cherrier et Besnus continued the production of these Massin products as well as introduced new designs in art deco style. The art deco lamps of Cherrier & Besnus are well made items of excellent quality. The bronze parts of their fixtures are often stamped with the foundry innitials RM (for René Massin) . The pair of sconces is in good condition. They have a height of 21 cm and project some 20 cm from the wall. They are rewired and equiped with E14 sockets so you can use our modern bulbs for them. I will add two good quality LED bulbs to the parcel. For the US or Japan I will wire the wall lights with American candelabra base sockets.
