Title: Chinese Biscuit Glazed Porcelain Vase Qing Dynasty 19th Century
Size: 12 x 12 x 12

A hand thrown pot that has very intricate molded panels of birds and applied slip decorations. The vase is similar to Shiwan pottery. The hand thrown porcelain vase has two identical panels of highly detailed birds perched in foliage molded into opposite sides of the body. Lotus scroll patterns made from drops of glaze adorn the rest of the exterior, from the beaded lip to just above the foot. The neck has bats crafted using the same method. The vase has a shallow rounded unglazed foot ring and considerable weight. The clay used has fired an off white. The base is glazed and has no marks or labels. MEASUREMENTS 8 ½” (21.6 cm) tall x 7” (17.8 cm) diameter. Weighs 4 lb 0.2 oz (1815 g) CONDITION There are no cracks, chips, or breaks. There are kiln flaws in the form of black dots on the exterior and interior. There are intermittent black lines at the foot edge, most likely from the kiln.
