Chinese Butterfly Shaped Sectional Plates, Republic

A set of eight Chinese famille rose sectional plates in the shape of a butterfly dating from the Republic period. They come in a wooden tray. Each plate features one of the Eight Immortals. The bottom of each plate is incised "CHINA."

Dimensions are: the central plate measures 1 1/2 inches tall X 6 1/4 inches wide, 3.8 cm X 15.9 cm, while the tray measures 12 1/2 inches tall X 19 1/2 inches wide, 31.8 cm X 49.5 cm. All measurements are approximate.

Condition: Two plates have minuscule chips to the rim, but all are in overall good condition. A reminder that all lots are sold as-is. Provenance: From the private, premier collection of a gentleman in Cleveland, Ohio. The items in the collection were acquired starting in the 1970s from auction houses including Christie's, Sotheby's, and Bonhams, as well as from various private collections in the United States.
