Chinese, possibly late 19th century. A red pleated skirt with blue and white embroidered borders of Tussah silk, housed in a custom frame; 38 x 39 in. (skirt), 49 x 49 in. (frame).
Descended in consignor's family and purported to have come from the imperial palace in Beijing's Forbidden City.
Condition Report: Skirt was professionally cleaned and mounted on Hexamount board in 2013. Conservator's documents accompany lot. A few small repairs to top middle of skirt.
