Chinese Famille Rose Guanyin, Republic

A Chinese famille rose porcelain statue of Guanyin dating from the Republic period. She sits in a relaxed pose on a tree stump supporting the infant Muzha on her right knee. To her left on the stump is a book. Guanyin herself wears a necklace and a crown with radiating panels featuring bamboo decoration, which matches her hooded robe. There is a 4-character, peach-shaped mark on the bottom of the statue with an additional three written characters.

Dimensions are: 14 1/2 inches tall X 8 inches wide, 36.8 cm X 20.3 cm. All measurements are approximate.
