Chinese Ink Block Group
20th century AD. A group of four ink blocks, each with a column of text to one face and a decorative scene to the other, comprising: an oval-shaped block with two longer columns of characters, one shorter column and a gilt character, a figure walking in a landscape to the other side, painted in red, green and gold; a rectangular block with two columns of characters, one gilt, a figure carrying a sack and a staff painted in gold and red to the other face; a rectangular block with rounded corners, two columns of characters and one gilt character, the other face with a figure seated in the landscape, painted gold, red and green; a rectangular block with angular corners, three columns of characters including one gilt, the other face with a figure reclining on a tree, painted red and gold. 253 grams total, 80-97mm (3 - 3 3/4").
