Chinese Jade Carved Cranes with Zitan Base, 18th
A Chinese jade carving of a pair of cranes with lotuses dating from the 18th century with a custom water-form Zitan wood base.
Dimensions are: 2 1/2 inches tall X 5 1/2 inches wide, 6.4 cm X 14 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: There is minor chipping to one lotus stem. The stand has a break.
Provenance: From a private Dania Beach, Florida collection. The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City houses a similar example under accession number 02.18.555 . A similar example was sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong on April 11, 2008, as lot 3076.
