Chinese Jade Inlaid Baitong Lidded Box, 19th Century
A Chinese baitong (copper-nickel alloy) lidded box with a jade plaque inlay dating from the 19th century. The jade features a phoenix with an orchid. There is a 6-character mark on the bottom of the box. Lotus tracery is etched into the exterior of the metal box, and the interior of the box is wood.
Dimensions are: 7 inches tall X 3 1/2 inches wide, 17.8 cm X 8.9 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: The jade is in good condition.
Provenance: From a private Boston, Massachusetts collection. Comes with a tag from a Christie's auction on September 14, 2017.
