Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue and White Porcelain Collection of Vessels

[ translate ]

Ca. 1368-1644 AD. Ming Dynasty. Collection of five blue and white porcelain vessels. Three of the vessels feature simple concentric circle decoration on the interior. The fourth comprises a flower motif in the centre of the bowl, and an intricate border around the rim. The centre of the fifth and final vessel is decorated with a bird perched within a tree, surrounded by eight rondels containing fans and plants. The Ming dynasty ruled most of China between AD 1368 and 1644. They were the last Chinese Imperial dynasty of Han Chinese ethnicity and the period of their rule is widely viewed as an era of progress and stability, during which many scientific and artistic advances were made. Their rule coincided with massive production of ceramics, both for domestic consumption and for export; the ceramic traditions developed under the Ming would have a major impact on subsequent development of ceramics in Europe. Excellent condition. Size: L: L70/S30mm / W: mm ; 805g Provenance: From an old British collection formed in the 1990s; previously acquired in Holland. Catawiki disclaimer: This piece has been dated based on style and patina. No further tests, such as, a TL test, an analysis of pigments or radiography scans have been conducted to check the integrity of the piece. All Items sold by Pax Romana Auctions come with a professional Certificate of Authenticity.
