Chinese Ming Dynasty Dehua Porcelain Large Dish

Ca. 1368-1644 AD. Ming Dynasty. Large Dehua porcelain dish with pedestalled foot, broad flattened bowl, sloping sides and rounded rim. Dehua porcelain, also known as Blanc de Chine (French for "White from China") is a type of white porcelain, which takes its name from its traditional place of manufacture – Dehua in Fujian province. Produced from the Ming dynasty onwards, it was widely exported around the world, most notably to the West and to Japan, and had an enormous influence on ceramic traditions in Europe. The Ming dynasty ruled most of China between AD 1368 and 1644. They were the last Chinese Imperial dynasty of Han Chinese ethnicity and the period of their rule is widely viewed as an era of progress and stability, during which many scientific and artistic advances were made. Excellent condition. Size: L: 50mm / W: 225mm ; 520g. Provenance: From an old British collection of Asian Art formed in the 1990 on the UK and European art market.
