Chinese Painting attributed to Empress Dowager Cixi
A Chinese watercolor and ink painting on silk attributed to the Empress Dowager Cixi. The painting, which has 4 seals, depicts an insect on white flowers. It is mounted on a silk backing and framed.
Dimensions are: 10 in. tall X 10 1/2 in. wide, 25.4 cm tall X 26.7 cm wide. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: It is in good condition.
Provenance: From the estate of Mr. Kwok Woon Kun, formerly a shareholder of Wing On Company, a well-known department store group in Hong Kong and Shanghai. This collection was collected in Hong Kong prior to Mr. Kwok's death in 1969. His collection was shipped to Canada in 1981 and was inherited by Mr. Kwok's daughter and grandson. Lot 229-285 from our auction on Sept 6th, 2019 were from the same estate.
