Chinese Panel with Jade Insets, Republic

A framed Chinese lacquer panel dating from the Republic period. The obverse side features inset jade and hard stone elements carved into the shapes of scholarly objects. The reverse side features a lacquered scene of a phoenix and other birds in a landscape with flowers and bamboo.

Dimensions are: the sight area measures 23 3/4 inches tall X 15 1/4 inches wide, 60.3 cm X 38.7 cm, while the frame measures 26 3/4 inches tall X 18 3/4 inches wide, 67.9 cm X 47.6 cm. All measurements are approximate.

Condition: Overall good condition. The obverse side has repairs, cracking, mold damage, and chipping. The reverse side has cracking and mold damage. A reminder that all lots are sold as-is.
