A matched pair of parcel-gilt silver cups in the Tang style, each a shallow bowl with everted rim and central panel of animals fighting, hatched outer face with reserved leaves, tendrils, central rosette; tripod legs each with a beast-head upper, swept spur handle with reserved flowers. 392 grams total, 12.2cm each (4 3/4"). Property of a London doctor; previously in the collection of her husband by inheritance; formerly acquired during travels in the Far East during the 1920s. [2]
