Chinese Tang Dynasty Leaded Bronze Mirror Florals

[ translate ]

East Asia, China, Tang Dynasty, ca. 618 to 907 CE. A cast leaded bronze mirror of an elegant form with a petite flower within each of the eight broad lobes protruding around the peripheries. The center of the mirror showcases an interesting scene of two figures around a tall tree with a mythical phoenix and dragon flying downwards on either side of the perforated central lug. The smooth verso exhibited a highly polished luster at one time to provide the mirror's owner with a reflective surface, and remains of this polishing is still visible. Layers of mottled green and brown patina cover the entire composition to create a distinguished presentation. Size: 5.4" Diameter (13.7 cm)

Provenance: private southern California, USA collection, acquired prior to 2000

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.

A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

We ship worldwide to most countries and handle all shipping in-house for your convenience.

#146644
Condition Report: The raised upper edges are worn, with small losses leaving areas that have oxidized to a pretty blue. Otherwise in fine condition with slightly mottled patina.
