Chinese Underglazed Snuff Bottle, 19th Century
A Chinese blue and red underglazed porcelain snuff bottle dating from the 19th century. The snuff bottle depicts a woodcutter in a landscape and the bottom has a 4-character mark.
Dimensions: 3 3/4 inches tall X 1 1/2 inches wide, 9.5 cm tall X 3.8 cm wide. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: The stopper has been repaired multiple times, one minor firing crack to the bottom of the snuff bottle.
Provenance: From Mrs. Hillebrand in Chicago. Her father-in-law purchased these items in China and Hong Kong between 1935 and 1970. Lots 79-90 from our March 14, 2019 auction were from the same collection.
