Description: Chippendale Satinwood and Ebonized Wood Inlaid Maple and Mahogany Slant-Front Secretary-Bookcase
New England, Predominantly Late 18th Century
In two parts: the upper section having two inset-panel doors enclosing three shelves with pigeonhole dividers; the lower section having a slanting hinged writing lid, opening to view a central arched and fan-carved inset prospect door enclosing a niche and a drawer flanked by an arrangement of six pigeonholes above six serpentine short drawers. Various repairs to inlay of upper section and to writing lid; brasses and feet are replaced.
