Matthew Prior was an English poet and diplomat. He was also known as a contributor to The Examiner.

Condition Report:
The canvas has been relined. There evidence of old craquelure throughout and surface dirt. Ultraviolet light reveals scattered retouching and heavy green varnish which potentially conceals further restoration.
