Citroën - SM (Maserati) 2,7L V6 Coupe - NO RESERVE - 1972

Don’t miss this opportunity and become the new owner of this very unique Citroën SM (Maserati) Coupé! This is a NO RESERVE PRICE AUCTION. The Citroën SM was the top-class model in the 1970s. The letters SM don’t actually mean anything, although some sources say it could stand for Sa Majesté which means “her majesty”, according to others it means "Sport Maserati". In 1961, Citroën launched Project S with the aim to develop a luxury car based on the DS with revolutionary performance such as a top speed of more than 180 km/h and great technical refinements. The first contact with the Italian Maserati, for the development of a new engine, followed two years later. Citroën took over the Italian company in 1968 with the goal of using Maserati's powerful V6 engine in the SM. What gave the Citroën SM its 'celebrity status' is of course the fact that one of the Dutch owners was Johan Cruijff, although few people know that the car was actually leased to him by Citroën. Later on Cruijff bought his own Citroën SM, he also made this car famous. Nowadays, Cruijff's first Citroën SM can often be admired at various events. The Citroën SM is seen less and less often and is becoming a rarity on the streets. This car starts straight away, idles nicely, accelerates powerfully and shifts smoothly through all gears. The typical hydropneumatic spring system rises immediately. The (matching numbers) Maserati engine with 177 HP provides plenty of power! The original interior still looks very neat, the seats were revised in the past. In addition, the Citroën’s paintwork still looks good. The chrome, however, shows some small traces of wear (see pictures) . Another thing that makes this Citroën unique is that it concerns the more popular carburettor version, which is highly desirable among enthusiasts. So don’t wait and grab your chance to become the proud new owner of this beautiful piece of French-Italian history!
