Civil War M1840 NCO sword with Massachusetts mark. Single fullered steel blade, ricasso signed "N.P. Ames Cabotville 1848" reverse "U.S". Cast brass hilt, knuckle guard with "MS" (Massachusetts) and inspector marks. Good condition, blade dark with old oxidation, hilt excellent with light brass patina. Sword measures: 39" L.
