Heading:
Author: [Counterculture - Drugs]
Title: MARIHUANA Movie Poster One-Sheet
Place Published: Los Angeles
Publisher:Roadshow Attractions [Pacific Show Print]
Date Published: 1936
Description:

28" x 39.25". One-sheet movie poster. Printed in two colors. Good to very good; a few tears, small chips, general age-related wear, marginal soiling, original fold reinforced on verso with tape, black ink color-touch to fold. Will display beautifully matted and framed.

Not comic-related (although Parade of Pleasure author Geoffrey Wagner did call comics "the marijuana of the nursery"). The movie was essentially a nudie flick disguised as an anti-drug morality tale (exploitation films from the 1930s and '40s got around the strict censorship of the time by claiming to be educational). Hang it in your den to glance at while reading a stack of Zaps or Shock SuspenStories.

Consignments Accepted for PBA's Next Comic Book Auction. Golden Age, Silver Age, Pre-Code, Original Art, Interesting Ephemera Sought. Contact ivan@pbagalleries.com for details.

PBA COMICS March 26th Comic Book Sale catalogues available. Supplies Limited. Softcover catalogues limited to 200 copies ($45 + $5 postage/handling). Hardcovers limited to 26 lettered copies, dust jackets, special limitation plates ($150). Contact ivan@pbagalleries.com .
Condition Report: AMENDED 5/18/20: Left edge of poster has been trimmed. Date uncertain, 1936-1945.
