The shaft with two incised inscriptions: "M [or H] P" and "1773"
Condition Report:
Minor marks, nicks, scratches, and small losses consistent with age and use. A wedge shaped section of the head (visible to the right of the crack that can be seen in the catalogue illustrations) is a modern restoration. A small repair to the top corner of the club on the other side and, at the same side, the end of the lowest two ribs in the top register restored. Some cosmetic conservation would be advisable. Fine aged patina with old European varnish.
