This wonderful chest was used for small intimate tea ceremonies.

Various objects are used for Japanese tea rituals. The handy objects are often stored in a chest. The composition of the various bowls, pots and, for example, lid holders are personal. Ceramics can therefore come from various Japanese regions. The objects in this tea chest can be used, but are also an ornament for the interior.

Chabako (cha = tea, bako = box) are traditional Japanese cedar wood boxes originally used to keep tea leaves fresh and transport them safely.

Tea ceremony utensil set in a wooden storage box consisting of:

- A porcelain mizusashi 水指 (cold water container) glazed with a white beautiful green colour.
Ø 17 x 16 cm

- A chawan 茶碗 (tea bowl) of wonderful stoneware in the same green glaze. Marked by the artist.
Ø 14 x 7 cm

- A green and white ceramic futa-oki 置 (bed and ladle rest) with a carved tree motif.
Ø 5. 5 x 5 cm

- A bamboo hishaku 柄杓 (ladle) .
38 x 5 x 6cm

- A bag with a tea towel

- a Chasen (green tea wisk)

- a small container to store matcha powder.

The box is 43 cm tall 18 cm deep and 20 cm wide.

This wooden chabako is used when a tea ceremony takes place away from the teacher.

Sometimes the teacher uses a Chabako belonging to someone else to teach a Japanese tea ceremony lesson or to perform a tea ceremony for guests.
