Comprising: 1) Portrait of Judge Richard Peters of Belmont (1744-1828, Secretary of War through the Revolution) "C.W. Peale," in pencil, verso; 2) Large format portrait of a high-ranking Army officer in uniform, c.1845, identified as Col. Samuel Winslow Miller (1780-1855, of Richmond, Va., however no corroborating documentation found) in a leather-covered case that once housed a portrait of R. Peters by Peale, now in the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts; and 3) Portrait of Maria Louisa Miller, daughter of Col. S. W. Miller (d.1898). From the estate of a Maryland collector. Acquired from descendants in Maryland, c. 1965.
