Colonial school, Mexico, 18th century. Santa Teresa in her study. Oil on canvas. It represents the saint with the characteristic habit of her order sitting at a desk in the attitude of writing on an open book, which is related to her condition as founder and earned her the title of Doctor of the Church. On the table also a skull while receiving divine inspiration from the image of Christ crucified and the holy spirit. This iconographic type that shows Santa Teresa as a writer reached diffusion in the 17th century and was created in 1650 by Zurbarán on the canvas that is preserved in the Cathedral of Seville. 142 x 98 cm.
