Console table - Empire - Brass, Mahogany - 1815-1825
A relatively small model console table/trumeau manufactured during the Dutch (late) Empire period around 1815-1825. The furniture is made up of oak & mahogany wood and glued with (flower) mahogany veneer. A large leaf of flower mahogany runs from the basement all the way to the panel in the rear. Under the leaf there is a profiled frame and a single dove-tailed drawer. At the front there are two full columns and at the back two half columns. All richly decorated with refined gilded capitals and basements. At the front, the furniture rests on the original twisted legs and at the back on the continuous styles of the framework. The authentic wax finish gives this elegant console table a chic shine and lets the beautiful deep warm colour of the mahogany come into its own!
