Marbled hard boards, leather spine and corners [some wear and rounded corners, leather creases between spine and boards, the labels on spine are damaged [see photos]; 5.1/4" x 7.3/4"; dark-brown endpapers are glued together [see photo]; inscription on the first blank page ["E.A. Pond From J. Edwards Clark. Oct 1861." and "Mrs. Abbot S. Pond"]; 488 pages + two-page explanation of the frontispiece by Hogarth + 2-page publisher's list of books, red page edges, good / very good condition.

The history of doctors and the medical profession in England. Including chapters on Sir Thomas Browne, Sir Hans Sloane, quacks, John Radcliffe, bleeding, female medical professionals, country medical men, and more.
