With the Van Gogh yellows and blues, Guillaume Corneille creates a solar image. Having installed his workshop in the heart of his garden near Auvers-sur-Oise, the "painter of happiness" represents a conversation between animals and humans. In a drawing close to Picasso, the bird acquires a human face, caresses the head represented by a double profile.
The Red Bird is a species seen by Corneille in Latin America, in Mexico. This is the Northern Cardinal, a species of passerine bird in the Cardinalidae family. It owes its name to the red color of the plumage of the male which recalls the red clothes of cardinals. It was once prized as a pet. The Northern Cardinal is a songbird.
By its colors, the work is not reminiscent of the dynamic series of images that Corneille created in homage to the painter Miro.

Large original lithograph by the painter Guillaume Corneille, born in Liège to Dutch parents, founding member of the Cobra group.
