The crucifixion is the ultimate symbol of Christian religion. The analysis of the iconography of the crucifixion shows the variety of systems of meaning attributed to Christ’s suffering and death, as well as to the promise of salvation for mankind. The figure of Christ, sculpted in the 18th century, is arranged in accordance with an axial directive, with his arms stretched in a "v" position, and his hands above the head (no missing parts from the fingers!) , it depicts a slight rotating movement, marked by the head tilted to the right. The sculpture features strong musculature, separate feet, and hair flowing down to the shoulders. The wooden frame is painted in gold leaf on blue damask. Dimensions: frame 42 x 25 cm; Christ 20 cm.
