You are bidding on one of the most beautiful items from my private collection. This Dogon couple is an handmade artefact that was handed over to me from a local "artisan" in the Djenné region of Mali.
The statue, a representation of male and female in the Dogon culture, presents itself with intriguing and meticulous details. Please understand that they have some minor signs of their age (please look at all the pictures) . In my opinion, it truly is a hand-crafted masterpiece. They have always been stored inside a glass showcase.
MATERIAL: African bronze. Lost-wax casting process, brown patina.
PROVENANCE: Private collection, originally from the Djenné region, in Mali (collected in situ) .
SPECS: 34 cm height, about 5 cm width. The weight of the statue is about 0,32 kg.
