Revised, enlarged and updated fourth edition of Coxe's important digest of narratives of Russian exploration compiled from a variety of sources. The most valuable additions to this edition are 1) Bringing up to 1792 the narratives of all known Russian voyages. The 1887 third edition ended with Krenitzin and Levashev's expedition of 1768-69. 2) Steller's narrative of Bering's voyage from Kamchatka to America in 1741. 3) Account of Shelekhov's voyage and settlement in Kadiak. 4) Several other voyages not previously described.

The five maps and charts are one more than previous editions, two being new ones and the others re-engraved on a reduced scale. The five are:

Krenitzin's and Levasheff's Voyage to the Fox Islands in 1768 and 1769. 20x57.5 cm.

Chart of Shalauroff's Voyage. 9x16 cm.
Condition Report: Some toning to paper, the two largest folding maps with recent paper repairs/reinforcements on verso along the folds; very good.
