Vintage black and white photograph of Joan Crawford in a head and shoulders pose, signed and inscribed "To Hilda, from Joan Crawford" near the lower margin, light age-related discolouration, some silvering, a few surface marks, low left corner slightly bent, 10 x 8"; together with nine typed letters signed ("Joan Crawford" or "Joan") to Hilda Forrest, thanking Hilda for her Christmas greetings and gifts ("I am so thrilled to have 'Painting as a Pastime' by Winston Churchill and shall treasure it always. The section with some of his paintings is most interesting and I am very grateful to you for your choice", 23 February 1949), , discussing Crawford's work ("Am glad you were happy that I won the Oscar, Have you seen the picture yet? We previewed 'Humoresque' a few night ago and it went over very well. Am now working on 'The Secret' and, since I’m' in almost every scene, go to the studio every day", 19 June 1946; "Flamingo Road has kept me at the studio from early morning until late at night , which doesn’t leave much time for anything else.
