Cup with slightly raised body and high rim support.
Majolica painted in three colours: green, blue and orange; decorated with rounded segments and different decorations alternating four to four; exterior with alternating blue, yellow and orange stripes on a white background. Cavetto with coat of arms, probably a city gonfalon, with a palace surmounted by four towers protruding on the sides.
Montelupo fiorentino, 16th – 17th century.
[It finds comparisons with similar cups decorated "in a polychrome compendiary", in various forms but all traceable to the same ductus, dating back to the second half of the 1500s; see F. Berti, La maiolica di Montelupo, centuries XIV-XVIII, Florence 1986, cover and nos. 75-77. The coat of arms is close to the banner of Castiglione della Pescaia, but bearing only three towers.]
