DELUXE CASE COLOR WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 RIFLE

Serial #127943. Barrel length 26". Caliber 44-40. Made in 1883. The factory letter lists this deluxe model as having a 26" barrel (2" longer than standard), Octagon barrel with half magazine, set trigger, checkered pistol grip stock with case colors. Rifle was shipped this way on June 23, 1883. Other features include a rifle butt with trap, graduated tang sight, folding Beech front sight Winchester semi-buckhorn rear sight, ivory bead front sight. Condition; The barrel retains approximately 85% original factory blue that is mixing with patina and razor sharp legends. The frame retains traces of color and has taken on that nickel appearance with pattern. There is also some traces of color on hammer and lever. The stocks have typical highly grained walnut as would be expected on a deluxe model. They have some minor impressions and some added finish giving it the deluxe piano varnish look. The rifling is well defined with some softening. Action is sharp. A very handsome deluxe .44 caliber 1873. (A)
