[DOG BREEDING] The Fox Terrier Chronicle. A monthly journal, solely devoted to smooth & wire-haired fox terriers.
Dudley and London: 1884-1906. Volume I, number 11 (January 1888)-Volume XV, number 12 (March 1898), Volume XVII numbers 1-12. Various bindings, most three-quarters calf, marbled sides, two in publisher's cloth. Some bindings defective, sold as a periodical, not subject to return.
A long run of this important early work on the breeding of fox terriers, the early years of which are illustrated with mounted albumen prints. It is substantially complete, though lacking most of the first year and volume XVI (and, of course, all issues subsequent to volume XVII). Duplicates are present for part of volume II, and for volumes IV, V, VI (two duplicate copies of this year) and X. Original photographs were included (one per number, twelve numbers a year) through the tenth year, after which the issues were designated "New Series," and half-tones were substituted for the original photographs. (24)
