"Publication of this book encountered delays and difficulties because of the outbreak of World War II. Since paper and workmen were fast being commandeered by the British government, the book was rushed into print despite the fact that only two Dulac illustrations were finished" (Hughey). Dulac designed the entire format of the volume, including chapter head and tail scroll designs. Hughey 91.
Condition Report: Some toning and staining to cloth with darkening to spine, spine label peeling at edges; small Seattle bookstore label on front endpaper; photographs with some light rippling, creasing mostly in margins, a few small chips to a few corners; very good.
