Dawn French: A Tiny Bit Marvelous, 2010; and American Animator, Chuck Jones Autograph, 1992 – Dawn French: A Tiny Bit Marvelous, 2010. Original maquette of the character named ‘Poo the dog’, who features in Dawn French’s novel, published by Michael Joseph, 2010, cast in resin and hand-painted, this maquette was a study for the larger version, and used for the promotion and marketing of Dawn French’s book. Poo went on to gain notoriety through the book and social media content, H 9cm x W13.5cm; together with, Chuck Jones (1912-2002) Autograph, signed by the American Animator in black ink on a white sheet of paper, 21 x 29cm; together with, a related International Animation Festival Souvenir programme, for the event held in Cardiff, Wales, 10-15 March, 1992, illustrated throughout, with two newspaper cuttings loosely inserted, each relating to Cartoon King, Chuck Jones, who was presented at the event with ‘The David Platt Award for Lifetime Achievement in Animation’, 21 x 29.5cm. (2) Chuck Jones wrote, produced, and directed many of the classic animated cartoon shorts starring Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner, Pepe Le Pew, Porky Pig, Marvin and the Martian, to name a few. He was awarded an Honorary Academy Award in 1996 for 'The Creation of Classic Cartoons and Cartoon Characters whose animated lives have brought joy to our real ones for more than half a century'. Provenance: ‘Poo the Dog’ maquette was created by the vendor who is a sculptor who works in the film and television industry. Chuck Jones’ autograph was signed in person for the vendor who attended the International Animation Festival in Cardiff and met the animator at the event.
