Title-page with elaborate pictorially engaved border + 23 leaves numbered XXXVI-LVIII, each with half-page copper engraving & text in italic type + full-page copper-engraved map of Nova Zembla. Approx 29x20 cm (11½x8"), disbound with leaves placed in mylar sleeves in a binder.

Marvelous views of the frozen north from De Bry's "Petit Voyages." Includes depictions of seal harvesting, bear hunting (and being mauled by same), ships frozen in the ice, wintering in cozy cabins, building boats to escape the perils of the winter, etc.
Condition Report: Title leaf with left margin perished; generally very good. Sold as is.
