First edition nicely illustrated.

"Dear Old Songs", published by White and Allen, New York and London, undated [1889], first and unique edition [it was not reprinted]. There is no main title page, instead each song has its own title page.

"OLD UNCLE NED", illustrated by G. W. Brenneman, 14 text pages and 14 full-page plates + 2 pages sheet music.

"BLUE BELLS OF SCOTLAND", illustrations by F. M. Gregory, 25 illustrations and plates [a 3" x 1" blank edge of two pages is missing], 2 pages of sheet music.

"SALLY IN OUR ALLEY", illustrated by Joseph Lauber, 26 pages with illustrations and plates + 2-page sheet music."SHANDON BELLS", illustrations by Joseph Lauber, 27 pages with illustrations and plates + sheet music.

"Old Uncle Ned" was written & composed by Stephen C. Foster. New York: Millet's Music Salon, 1848

George W. Brenneman was a painter and illustrator. He resided in the city of New York as well as in Central Valley, NY. He was born in 1856, and died on February 4, 1906. Brenneman studied with Diez in Munich, and shared a studio in Munich with Dielman, Chase, Shirlaw, and Duveneck. He was one of the founders of the Salmagundi Club, and was a member of the American Watercolor Society of New York. Brenneman was the illustrator for "The First Violin." His specialties were to depict horses in action, animals, and landscapes.

Joseph Lauber [1855-1948], An immigrant from Germany to the United States in 1864, Joseph Lauber became a noted muralist, stained glass designer whose clients included Tiffany's of New York, and teacher at Columbia University. His work is in numerous churches and institutions including Trinity Church in New York City and the House of Representatives in Washington DC. Exhibition venues included the Chicago Exposition of 1893, the Paris Salon, and the National Academy of Design.
