A RARE AND EARLY GAA MEDAL, c.1885, the obverse finely decorated with Irish motifs of harp, round tower, Celtic cross and crossed hurley and hammer, the reverse decorated with a centred shamrock, engraved with the names 'Parnell', 'Davitt' and 'Dr. Croke' on each leaf and surrounding border engraved with details of event and winner, 'won by T Ryan - Putting...37 feet 3/8 inches'

These medals were issued in the first and second years after the GAA was founded and therefore are exceptionally rare and fine examples.
