Design allegedly by Luca Giordano (Naples 1634-1705) depicting woman with cape. Red chalk on paper. Mm 415x255. At the bottom center written posthumously: "disegno originale Luca Giordano comprato in Roma pregevolissimo" (original drawing by Luca Giordano bought in Rome valuable). "Luca Giordano was one of the main protagonists of Neapolitan painting of the seventeenth century. He was active in Naples, Rome, Venice, Florence and Madrid and had contact with the paintings of Pietro Da Cortona and the Venetian ones of Tiziano and Veronese. His works, in line with the proposals advanced by the Neapolitan painting of the first period of the seventeenth century, with a strong interest in naturalismpost-Caravaggio, from the reference to Ribera, to the veronesians and Correggio, elevate the figure of Luca Giordano to experimenter of new baroque trends.The monumentality of the female figure, the heavy draperies and the same laying of the hand, recall the painting certainly made by Giordano, representing Psyche honored by the people."ASOR STUDIO
