Wonderful Venetian coat of arms in Istrian marble depicting the flag of the Serenissima with the lion engraved on it and a very important motto "Ti con nu, nu con ti" indicating an important speech made by Count Giuseppe Viscovich (Perasto, 1728–Perasto, 1804) . He was an Italian soldier, the last Venetian captain of Perasto (now in Montenegro) , the last territory remained loyal to the Serenissima. More than three months after the fall of the Republic of Venice by the French, the citizens of Perasto gathered in front of the palace of the Captain of the city to bury the banner of Serenissima. In front of the kneeling crowd, Captain Giuseppe Viscovich gave a speech in Serbian-Croatian Slavic language: the Oath of Perast, otherwise known as ‘Ti co nu, nu co ti’ (in Venetian translation) . The expression ‘Ti con nu, nu con ti’ was taken up again in 1919 by the poet Gabriele D'Annunzio in the “Letter to the People of Dalmatia”, published in Venice, in which he exhorted the Venetians and Dalmatians to insurrection for the annexation to the Kingdom of Italy of the former territories of the Serenissima, and it would be the motto of the “Squadra aerea di San Marco” or "La Serenissima" that he commanded. This work dates back to the 19th century and comes from Venice. Lot of high workmanship and quality, exclusive above all for the intrinsic and symbolic value that conveys. An important bond and explicit love for the Serenissima. The quality of the carving should also be highlighted, as well as the beautiful details of the flag, which have been finely crafted. Medium-sized, well-proportioned and not too heavy. Perfect when hung on the wall, ideal for both indoor and outdoor use. It has a nice patina. One of a kind lot, very hard to find on the market. It is in excellent general condition, intact. It will be shipped in a wooden crate. Low-priced, safe and tracked shipping worldwide. The item is also available for pickup at our warehouse. Dimensions:
