Dickens (Charles).- Stone (Marcus, historical genre painter and illustrator, 1840-1921) Autograph Letter signed to "Dear Sir", 1p., 8vo, Kensington Road, 15th March 1887, "The figure in my father's picture 'The Duet', to which you refer as 'leaning' over a settee I take to be the dark young man, nearest to the spectator. The only member of the Dickens household who figures in the picture, is the white poodle 'Timber'. I know of no portrait or sketch of C.D. by my father. I never painted him", edges laid in, folds.
