In 1942, Filarski resided for an extended period with his youngest son at the farm of the artist couple Stien Eelsingh and Roel Frankot, situated in Staphorst. During his stay, he frequently ventured into Giethoorn to capture the essence of its farms, bridges, and landscapes on canvas. Notably, his artistic approach underwent a noticeable evolution since his earlier stint in Giethoorn and Staphorst in 1923, characterized by a shift from heavy and vigorous compositions to a palette dominated by lighter hues, as evidenced in his 1943 painting.
