EARLY CHRISTIAN GIRL'S RING 5th-9th CENTURY AD

Narrow band with circular bezel inscribed with addorsed scrolls, perhaps the Roman lituus, the scroll shaped wand used by augurs (seers of the Roman religion) to scribe out an area of sky. Small size 2 1/4 and excellent condition with some wear from use. Gilt bronze. Professionally refurbished with the 24 karat gold overlay restored.
